The why

A quiet room, held in common.

Scripture asks four things of us when it comes to prayer. PrayerMap tries to honor all four at once.

God instructs us — as individuals — to pray.

Before anything else, prayer is personal. It is the cry of one heart to the one God. We are commanded to pray, not because God needs to be reminded, but because we need to remember who we are: dependent children, loved.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

God instructs us — together — to pray.

Prayer was never meant to be lonely. The early church “devoted themselves” to prayer together. When two or three gather in His name, He is there. There is a power in united prayer that solitary prayer was never designed to carry alone.

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Matthew 18:19–20

God instructs us to pray in private — but few of us have a room.

Jesus told us to go into our room and shut the door. A private prayer room is a beautiful thing, but not everyone has the space, or the silence, or the household, that makes one possible. Most of us pray on the drive, at the sink, in the waiting room, lying in bed.

PrayerMap is your private prayer space — held globally with others who can also lift your prayer up. Submit anonymously if you want. Write what you can't say out loud. The door is shut. You are not alone.

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Matthew 6:6

God instructs us to pray — for others.

The Bible asks us to intercede: for health, for healing, for direction, for protection, for the saints (believers on earth), for salvation, for those who govern, and for those doing God's work. The prayers you carry for other people matter — to them and to God.

On the map, every pin you see is a chance to intercede for someone you've never met. Lift one. Track it. Watch God answer.

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

1 Timothy 2:1–2

So we built a map.

PrayerMap is the place where private prayer and shared prayer can coexist. Submit your request — anonymously or with your name. Pray for someone across the world. When God answers, mark it. The next person who walks in will see his goodness.

“Pray without ceasing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
